Town Neck Beach
Town Neck Beach, Sandwich MA — Cape Cod
Town Neck Beach doesn’t have quite the same buzz as Sandy Neck. It’s right next to the Canal, abutting the Sandwich Boardwalk. It’s a vast walking place, and even on a windy Tuesday afternoon in early May it had a little buzz going on. These are the final weeks of locals-only peace and quiet.
Town Neck Beach, Sandwich MA
When you arrive at Town Neck Beach you’re looking at a long, sweeping sand dune. To get onto the beach you have to go over the dune (via ramp or stairs) and then down the other side (via stairs or sand). It’s pleasant and beautiful, although not wagon-friendly.

Town Neck Beach, Sandwich MA
This is one of the rockier beaches I’ve walked—the stones go on and on. I took a very nice scallop shell home with me.
Mermaid Point, a charming beach house on Town Neck Beach
The neighborhood that enjoys this beach is incredibly sweet. The boardwalk is gorgeous. Unfortunately it was low tide on this particular afternoon, but I’ll return again soon to capture it in its glory.
